An Empirical Study on Financial Literacy And Investment Behaviour Among Individual Investors in Tiruchirappalli City

Author: K. Beema Rao

DOI Link: https://doi.org/10.70798/Bijmrd/04060005

Abstract: Financial literacy has become an essential factor in enabling individuals to make informed financial decisions and achieve long-term financial well-being. In today’s dynamic financial environment, investors are presented with a wide range of investment opportunities that require adequate financial knowledge, positive financial attitudes, and sound decision-making skills. This study examines the influence of financial literacy on the investment behaviour of individual investors in Tiruchirappalli City. The findings reveal that financial literacy has a significant positive influence on investment behaviour. The correlation analysis indicates a strong positive relationship between financial literacy and investment behaviour (r = 0.712, p < 0.001). The Chi-square analysis shows that age, occupation, monthly income, and investment experience have significant associations with investment behaviour, whereas gender and educational qualification do not exhibit statistically significant relationships. The SEM results further confirm that financial literacy positively influences financial attitude and investment behaviour, while financial attitude partially mediates the relationship between financial literacy and investment behaviour. The structural model demonstrates a good model fit and explains a substantial proportion of the variance in investment behaviour. The study concludes that financially literate investors are more likely to make rational investment decisions, diversify their investment portfolios, manage financial risks effectively, and achieve better financial outcomes. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening financial education and investor awareness programmes through educational institutions, financial institutions, government agencies, and regulatory bodies. Enhancing financial literacy among individual investors will contribute to improved investment practices, greater financial inclusion, and sustainable economic development.

The Aesthetic Architecture of Tabla Solo: A Comparative Study of the Performance Styles of Shubhankar Banerjee and Anandogopal Bandyopadhyaya

Author: Manabendra Das & Dr. Rupa Sinha

DOI Link: https://doi.org/10.70798/Bijmrd/04060006

Abstract: Tabla solo performance occupies a central position in Hindustani music, serving as a medium through which rhythmic imagination, technical mastery, and artistic individuality are expressed. Among contemporary tabla exponents, Shubhankar Banerjee and Anandogopal Bandyopadhyaya have earned recognition for their distinctive approaches to solo presentation. While both artists are deeply rooted in the traditional framework of tabla performance, their interpretative methods, repertoire development, and aesthetic choices reveal significant differences. This study undertakes a comparative examination of their solo performances with special reference to tonal production, repertoire selection, layakari, improvisational strategies, and stage presentation. Employing qualitative and analytical methods based on recordings, published literature, and performance observations, the paper investigates how each artist negotiates the relationship between tradition and innovation. The findings indicate that Banerjee’s style emphasizes clarity, speed, and structural sophistication, whereas Bandyopadhyaya’s performances foreground depth, balance, and nuanced rhythmic expression. The study contributes to contemporary discourse on tabla aesthetics and highlights the diversity that exists within modern solo performance traditions.

Great Maestro Manobendra Mukhopadhyay and Ustad Mehdi Hassan: A Comparative Study of their Bengali Semi-Classical Songs and Urdu Ghazal Renditions

Author: Rupa Sinha & Ramen Sarkar

DOI Link: https://doi.org/10.70798/Bijmrd/04060007

Abstract: The musical heritage of the Indian subcontinent is enriched by artists who successfully integrated classical traditions with regional and literary forms of expression. Great Maestro Manobendra Mukhopadhyay and Ustad Mehdi Hassan represent two such legendary figures whose contributions transformed Bengali semi-classical music and Urdu ghazal singing respectively. Despite belonging to different linguistic and cultural traditions, both artists were deeply rooted in Hindustani classical music and employed its principles to create distinctive artistic identities. This study undertakes a comparative examination of their musical styles, vocal techniques, raga treatment, poetic interpretation, and cultural contributions. Using a qualitative and analytical approach, the research evaluates recordings, scholarly literature, and historical sources. The study finds that both musicians balanced classical sophistication with emotional accessibility, thereby broadening the appeal of semi-classical genres. While Manobendra emphasized the literary and melodic richness of Bengali music, Mehdi Hassan elevated ghazal singing through refined classical ornamentation and profound emotional expression. Their artistic legacies continue to influence contemporary vocal traditions across South Asia.

The Mask of Feminism: How Pseudo & Radical Misreads Are Hindering Real Gender Progress

Author: Urbii Utthasani

DOI Link: https://doi.org/10.70798/Bijmrd/04060009

Abstract: In June 2026, a 10-second clip from a Gurugram comedy show did what years of policy debates could not: it froze the entire country mid-scroll. A man in the audience said he had spent ₹370 on biryani, and so intimacy was “owed” to him. The video exploded. NCW filed complaints. FIRs were registered. Newsrooms ran 24-hour loops. For three weeks, India argued about ₹370, about men, about women, about who was offended and who was overreacting. But while the country fought over a plate of biryani, something quieter was happening. Consent training modules in Gurugram offices stayed un-updated. POSH complaints kept piling up in drawers. And the word “consent” itself — hard-won through decades of feminist legal work — got cheaper. It was used more, but meant less. This paper tells that story. Not just the story of ₹370 biryani, but of two other masks from the same year: a medical student’s joke about cadavers that turned medical ethics into a gender war, and a Bengaluru techie’s suicide note that was turned into a manifesto. All three wore the language of feminism — dignity, patriarchy, justice — but none delivered the boring, unglamorous work feminism actually requires: rewriting laws, auditing wages, training police, updating syllabi. Using critical discourse analysis and the idea of “counterfeit currency”, I argue that the real sociopolitical crisis is not feminism. It is counterfeit feminism. This paper critically examines the reconfiguration of feminist discourse within contemporary social media ecologies. Drawing upon critical discourse analysis, postfeminist theory, and media studies, I argue that platform affordances—algorithmic amplification, attention commodification, and affective virality—have catalyzed the emergence of “pseudo-feminism”: a counterfeit iteration of feminist politics characterized by symbolic performativity, lexical appropriation, and the evacuation of material praxis. When feminist words are spent for virality without material return, public trust inflates and crashes. The cost is polarization that kills coalitions, backlash that erodes trust, and attention theft that starves real reforms. The paper ends with a simple test to unmask content: does it have a policy ask, an outcome metric, and accountability? If not, it is costume, not cause.

The Ethics of Potentiality: Exploring the Moral Status of the Fetus (Bhrun-Nash)

Author: Dr. Sunon Nandy

DOI Link: https://doi.org/10.70798/Bijmrd/04060010

Abstract: Abortion (Bhrun-Nash) remains one of the most controversial issues in applied ethics, involving profound questions about the beginning of life, the moral status of the fetus, bodily autonomy, and the rights of pregnant women. This article examines the ethical dimensions of abortion through the lens of the ethics of potentiality. It explores the competing philosophical arguments surrounding fetal rights, women’s reproductive autonomy, moral dilemmas, and the concept of personhood. Drawing upon classical and contemporary ethical theories, the article argues that abortion cannot be judged through a single moral principle; instead, every case demands careful ethical evaluation by considering the value of life, individual autonomy, and contextual circumstances.

The Role of Regional Political Forces in Shaping West Bengal Politics

Author: Ranajit Kumar Mondal & Dr. Rajni

DOI Link: https://doi.org/10.70798/Bijmrd/04060015

Abstract: West Bengal occupies a distinctive position in Indian politics because of its long history of ideological movements, strong political mobilization, linguistic and cultural identity, and the sustained influence of regional political forces. The political trajectory of the state has been shaped not only by national political parties but also by regionally rooted organizations, leaders, social movements, caste and community interests, and local political networks. The rise of regional political forces has significantly transformed the nature of electoral competition, governance, political communication, welfare politics, and centre–state relations in West Bengal. Historically, the state experienced prolonged dominance of the Indian National Congress and subsequently the Left Front, led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Since 2011, the All India Trinamool Congress has emerged as the principal regional political force, fundamentally restructuring the political landscape. At the same time, the growing presence of the Bharatiya Janata Party has introduced a new dimension of political competition, particularly through the mobilization of cultural, religious, and national political identities. This article examines the historical evolution, social foundations, electoral significance, governance strategies, and contemporary challenges associated with regional political forces in West Bengal. It argues that regional political forces have played a crucial role in articulating local aspirations, strengthening participatory politics, and influencing welfare-oriented governance, while also contributing to political polarization and competitive identity politics. The study adopts a qualitative and descriptive approach based on secondary sources, including books, scholarly studies, government documents, election-related materials, and relevant academic literature. The article concludes that the future of West Bengal politics will depend on the interaction between regional aspirations, national political narratives, welfare politics, democratic institutions, and changing patterns of voter behaviour.

Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee: Educational Leadership, Political Thought and His Contribution to Nation-Building in Modern India

Author: Dr. Pankaj Kumar Mandal

DOI Link: https://doi.org/10.70798/Bijmrd/04060016

Abstract: In the intellectual, educational, and political history of contemporary India, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (1901–1953) has a prominent position. Mukherjee made lasting contributions to higher education, democratic administration, and the formulation of a vision of national unification. He is regarded as a renowned educationist, notable lawmaker, and one of the leading nationalist leaders of postwar India. Using a historical and analytical approach, this essay critically evaluates his political ideas, leadership in education, and contribution to the process of nation-building in contemporary India. It examines his time as the University of Calcutta’s youngest vice-chancellor, during which he advanced scientific education, academic excellence, institutional autonomy, and the fusion of contemporary knowledge systems with Indian cultural values. His support for cultural nationalism, national integration, federal democracy, constitutional government, and economic independence is all included in the study’s analysis of his political philosophy’s development. His involvement in the Constituent era, his tenure as India’s first Minister of Industry and Supply, his resignation from the Union Cabinet due to ethical concerns, and his resistance to the unique constitutional provisions pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir are all highlighted. The essay contends that Mukherjee’s achievements went beyond party politics to include institution-building, educational reform, and the bolstering of democratic discourse in independent India, while noting the ongoing discussions surrounding some aspects of his political thought. The study shows that his legacy is still pertinent to discussions on higher education, national integration, constitutionalism, and public leadership by placing his thoughts within the larger framework of India’s journey from colonial authority to nationhood. According to the article’s conclusion, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s varied career serves as an example of how political leadership, nation-building, and educational vision are closely related in contemporary India.

DOI Link: https://doi.org/10.70798/Bijmrd/04060019

Abstract: Teachers play a very important role in the learning process. So, the teaching motivation of the teacher directly affects the students. If the teacher is not motivated towards the teaching, he/she cannot be able to motivate the student towards learning. Motivation helps the teacher to teach the student as per their needs. Teachers are power tools for improving quality of education through effective classroom practices in the secondary school (Davidson, 2007). The objective of the study was to compare teachers’ motivation to work in the secondary level teacher education institutions due to the categorical variables like gender (male and female), teaching experience (more than 5 years teaching experience &less than 5 years teaching experience), type of management (Government and Self-financed) and locale (urban & rural).Descriptive survey method has been adopted in the present study. A sample of 100 teacher educators were randomly selected of which 50 teachers were from Government and 50 teachers were from self-financed institutions. The major variable is motivation to work and categorical variables are gender, teaching experience, types of management and locale. Teacher Educators Motivation to Work Scale (TEMWS) developed by Ghosh and Guha (2015) was used for the study. The finding revealed that there is no significant difference in motivation to work of teacher educators in relation to gender variation but significant difference in relation to teaching experience, type of management and locale variations.

Author: Bandana Sautya1 & Dr. Sanchita Banerjee Roy

DOI Link: https://doi.org/10.70798/Bijmrd/04060022
