Abstract: The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a significant transformation in India’s educational framework, particularly in higher education. It seeks to address structural inefficiencies, improve quality, promote multidisciplinary learning, enhance research capacity, and increase accessibility. NEP 2020 introduces major reforms such as flexible curriculum design, multiple entry and exit options, Academic Bank of Credits, institutional restructuring, and digital integration. This study critically examines the impact of NEP 2020 on Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India. The paper highlights opportunities, implementation challenges, and policy implications. The findings suggest that while NEP 2020 offers transformative potential, successful implementation depends on adequate funding, infrastructure, governance, and faculty preparedness.
