Abstract: The present study has examined the representation of nature in the poems of Sarojini Naidu, one of the most prominent voices in early Indian English literature. Nature has been portrayed not merely as a decorative background but as an intrinsic element shaping emotional, cultural, and nationalist expressions. Through a close textual analysis of selected poems, it has been observed that Naidu had employed natural imagery to reflect Indian sensibilities, feminine consciousness, and spiritual harmony. The study has further explored how her poetic engagement with flora, fauna, seasons, and landscapes had contributed to the construction of a distinctly Indian aesthetic within colonial literary discourse. The findings have suggested that nature in Naidu’s poetry had functioned as a symbolic, cultural, and political medium, reinforcing identity and resistance.
