Abstract: Poverty remains one of the most persistent socio-economic challenges in West Bengal, despite decades of policy interventions and development initiatives. This research article offers a comprehensive socio-economic analysis of poverty alleviation strategies in the state, examining their effectiveness, limitations, and long-term implications. Drawing upon theoretical perspectives, policy frameworks, and empirical insights, the study explores the multidimensional nature of poverty and the role of government schemes, grassroots institutions, and community participation in addressing it. The paper argues that while significant progress has been made in reducing poverty levels, structural inequalities, regional disparities, and implementation gaps continue to hinder sustainable development. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for integrated, inclusive, and context-specific strategies to ensure equitable socio-economic transformation.
