Abstract: Education plays a critical role in preserving cultural identity while enabling socio-economic development among tribal communities. In West Bengal, tribal populations possess rich cultural traditions, languages, and knowledge systems, yet they face multiple educational challenges such as language barriers, poverty, geographical isolation, and cultural marginalization. This paper examines the relationship between education, culture, and identity among tribal communities in West Bengal. Using qualitative analysis of secondary data and scholarly literature, the study explores how educational institutions interact with indigenous cultural values and identities. The findings highlight the need for culturally responsive education, mother-tongue instruction, and inclusive policies to ensure equitable educational access and sustainable cultural preservation.
