Abstract: The increasing emphasis on culturally responsive and holistic education has renewed interest in the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) into contemporary educational practices. Rooted in ancient philosophical traditions and indigenous wisdom, Indian Knowledge Systems encompass diverse domains such as philosophy, ethics, language, science, mathematics, medicine, ecology, arts, and spirituality. These knowledge traditions are characterized by their holistic approach to human development, emphasizing the harmonious integration of intellectual, emotional, ethical, and spiritual dimensions of learning. In the context of globalization and rapid technological advancement, there is a growing need to reconnect education with cultural heritage and value-based learning. This paper explores the philosophical foundations of Indian Knowledge Systems and examines their pedagogical implications for contemporary education. Drawing upon the principles of holistic development, experiential learning, self-realization, and ethical consciousness, the study highlights the relevance of Indian educational thought in addressing present-day challenges such as moral decline, fragmented learning, environmental concerns, and the erosion of cultural identity. The paper further discusses the integration of indigenous pedagogical approaches, including dialogue, reflection, meditation, observation, and experiential learning, into modern curricula and classroom practices. It also examines the role of teachers in fostering value-oriented and learner-centered educational environments inspired by Indian traditions. Despite the growing recognition of Indian Knowledge Systems under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, several challenges remain, including curriculum limitations, inadequate teacher preparation, and the need for interdisciplinary approaches. The study concludes that the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems into contemporary education can contribute significantly to the development of culturally rooted, ethically responsible, and globally competent citizens. Such an approach not only enriches educational experiences but also promotes sustainable and holistic human development in the twenty-first century.
