Abstract : The trajectory of India’s external relations has undergone a profound transformation in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, driven by the increasing centrality of trade, technological advancement, and strategic diplomacy. Moving beyond its earlier focus on political sovereignty and non-alignment, India has progressively integrated economic and technological priorities into its foreign policy framework. This research article examines the evolution of India’s external relations through the lens of trade liberalization, technological diplomacy, and the strategic recalibration of global partnerships. It argues that India’s foreign policy today is shaped by a dynamic interplay between economic imperatives, technological competitiveness, and geopolitical considerations. By analyzing historical developments, policy shifts, and contemporary challenges, the article highlights how India has repositioned itself as an emerging global power navigating a complex, multipolar international system.
