It uses microorganisms, plants, or enzymes to break down or transform heavy metals into less harmful forms. There are many different bioremediation techniques for heavy metals, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Some of the most common techniques include phyto-remediation, bio-venting, biostimulation and bio-augmentation. Microorganisms that are specifically designed to break down heavy metals are added to the soil. This technique can be very effective, but it can also be expensive and time consuming. Bioremediation is a promising technology for removing heavy metals from the environment. It is relatively inexpensive, sustainable, and does not produce any harmful by-products. However, it can be slow and may not be effective for all types of heavy metals.
