Modern concepts of participatory governance traced back to Rousseau\u2019s works, which highlighted the significance of civic virtue, direct citizen engagement, and the public will as paramount. As new avenues for public engagement made possible by technological advancements, the ideas put out by Rousseau take on new significance in the present day. This abstract delves into the relevance of Rousseau\u2019s concepts to modern democratic practices, specifically looking at how digital technology used to increase public engagement.
