A descriptive research design was employed, with a sample of 160 SMDC members selected from 80 secondary schools using purposive and random sampling techniques. Data were collected through an interview schedule focusing on demographic profile, participation, and contributions of SMDC members to school development. The findings indicate that although most SMDC members have received basic training, their participation in meetings and school activities is limited due to lack of proper information, irregular meetings, and unclear agendas. The study reveals that SMDC members have minimal contribution toward improving physical infrastructure, teachinglearning processes, and organizational environment in schools. Their involvement is relatively better in the utilization of government grants, though largely partial. The study concludes that while SMDCs have significant potential to strengthen decentralized school governance and improve educational quality, their effectiveness is hindered by inadequate awareness and engagement.
