Abstract:<\/strong> Good governance has emerged as a crucial determinant in accelerating rural transformation, particularly in a diverse and populous state like West Bengal. This analytical study explores the role of governance mechanisms in fostering socio-economic development in rural areas, with a focus on transparency, accountability, participation, and efficiency in public administration. The paper examines key government initiatives, decentralization through Panchayati Raj Institutions, and the implementation of welfare schemes aimed at poverty alleviation, infrastructure development, and social inclusion. It further evaluates the impact of digital governance, rural employment programs, and grassroots participation in strengthening institutional frameworks and service delivery systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study adopts a qualitative and analytical approach, drawing on secondary data, policy documents, and case studies to assess the effectiveness of governance practices in transforming rural livelihoods. While significant progress has been made in areas such as rural connectivity, education, and healthcare, challenges persist in terms of bureaucratic inefficiencies, corruption, and regional disparities. The paper argues that strengthening participatory governance, ensuring policy continuity, and enhancing institutional capacity are essential for sustainable rural transformation. Ultimately, the study highlights that good governance serves as a catalyst for inclusive development and long-term socio-economic progress in rural West Bengal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
