In India, where gender disparities have historically limited women’s access to public and political spaces, education emerges as a powerful tool for empowerment and inclusion. This research paper examines the impact of education on women’s political participation in rural governance, with specific reference to the Aligarh Division of Uttar Pradesh. The study highlights how educational attainment enhances awareness, confidence, leadership abilities, and active engagement in Panchayati Raj Institutions. Using a descriptive and analytical research design based on secondary data sources such as books, research journals, government reports, and credible online platforms, the study evaluates patterns of participation and identifies key influencing factors. The findings suggest that educated women are more likely to participate actively in decision-making processes, challenge patriarchal norms, and contribute meaningfully to governance. However, socio-cultural barriers, economic limitations, and lack of access to higher education continue to restrict full participation. The study concludes that improving female literacy and promoting educational opportunities are essential for strengthening grassroots democracy and achieving inclusive rural development.

Keywords: Education, Women Empowerment, Political Participation, Rural Governance, Panchayati Raj, Aligarh Division.

Page No: 260-264

download journal

Author: Monika Sahu & Dr. Seema Sharma DOI Link: https://doi.org/10.70798/Bijmrd/04030032 Abstract: Education plays a transformative role in shaping the socio-political participation of individuals, particularly women in rural settings.
