It is closely connected to teacher\u2019s work performance, absenteeism, burnout and turn over as well as having an influence on student\u2019s achievement in and attitudes towards school. Professional commitment refers to a mind-set reflecting loyalty and willingness to give one\u2019s all to a particular person, principle or plan of action. This research paper compares the degree of professional commitment of secondary teachers in relation to their gender, educational qualification, management, teaching experience. Commitment is seen to be one of the most desirable attributes of a teacher.
